Fall color and quieter water on Spring Lake — a dock house near Grand Haven
Boats thin out. The feed turns on. The deck still works. Eight people, a fire pit, and a private dock without July density. Grand Haven’s lighthouses are 10–15 minutes.
The pre-winter bite
Bass, pike, walleye, perch, bluegill, and crappie all live in this lake. Fall is when a lot of them put on weight. Launch 0.6 miles away if you trailered in; fish from the dock if you’re keeping it simple.
November slides into shoulder season with April–May: quiet water, cool nights, central heat, the fire pit. Same house, fewer people on the trail.

Color drives, dune walks, early nights
North Ottawa Dunes, P.J. Hoffmaster, Kitchel-Lindquist Dunes, and Rosy Mound are the walking list. Lakeside Trail is still the easy ride from this side of the lake. Bring layers; the lake wind in October is not July.
